EP 247 | Havin' A Yarn With Will McMahon

Season 3 Episode 142

This week we’re joined by the one and only Will McMahon

Will McMahon is one of the most recognisable voices in Australian radio. He’s best known as one half of Will & Woody, the national drive show that airs across the country on KIIS FM (96FM out here in Perth) where he and co-host Woody Whitelaw bring a mix of comedy, chaos and heartfelt moments to the afternoon slot.

Alongside the laughs, Will’s been a strong advocate for mental health awareness, regularly using his platform to have real, open conversations about what’s going on beneath the surface.

We chat through Will’s early days in radio, back when he and Woody were literally scripting out every single word of their breaks just to survive on air. From there, we cover everything from his law degree (which, surprisingly, still comes in handy), to how a wild interview with Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy from Modern Family) got SCA Australia banned from all Disney interviews.

Will opens up about his love for his best mate and long-time radio partner Woody - what makes the partnership work, how they’ve grown together, and why their friendship is still at the heart of everything they do. We also dive into one of his proudest moments behind the mic: an incredibly moving chat with Billie Eilish that left both her and her mum in tears.

It’s funny, raw, inspiring, and full of gems from one of the best in the biz.
